How to Make Fabric Freshener: Step by Step Guide

In order To have a nice smell, you can spray fabric freshener on your clothing, blankets, pillows, bedding, fabric-covered furniture, home, and office fabric-covered furniture.

You can buy fabric freshener from the market or If you want you can make it at home. Making fabric freshener at home, not a hard task, also it’s inexpensive to make. In this article, you’ll learn how to make fabric fresheners or fabric refresher spray at home without dangerous chemicals.

How to Make Fabric Freshener at Home: 3 Ways

Method 1. Making Fabric Freshener With Vodka

It’s a very easy way to make fabric freshener from vodka. Before you start, you’ll need to collect some materials to go on.

Things Needed:

  • 1/3 cups inexpensive vodka
  • 3/4 cups distilled water.
  • 20/25 drops of essential oil
  • Medium size bowl
  • Spray bottle

Step 1: 

Put 3/4 cups of distilled water in a bowl. If you want to make more, then make sure to purchase enough distilled water.

Step 2:

Now simply add 1/2 cup of inexpensive vodka into the bowl with distilled water.

Step 3:

Add 20/25 drops of essential oil into the bowl. And mix up nicely.

Step 4:

Store in a spray bottle, you can use a 12 oz spray bottle, and shake it well.

Step 5:

Now It’s ready to use on your upholstery fabric, clothes, bedding, or in the air to freshen up your home.

Also, before you use it, just shake your bottle for few minutes and then use it.

1. May you found so many variations of this recipe on google- Half distilled water and half vodka, or mostly water with 1/3 tablespoon vodka, but settling on 4:1 water: vodka works perfectly.

2. Same with the essential oil you can use 6/7 drops to 30 drops of oil, but 20/25 drops of essential oil work perfectly.

Method 2. Make Fabric Freshener With Baking Soda

Before you start making freshener for fabric and home uses, you have to purchase or collect some materials together.

Things Needed:

  • Baking soda (1/3 tablespoon)
  • Distilled water/warm water
  • Essential oil (15/20 drops)
  • Spray bottle

Step Number 1:

At first, Just put 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda into a spray bottle. You can use a 12 oz spray bottle, or you can use a fabric spray bottle.

Step number 2:

Add warm water or distilled water into the spray bottle. In order to get a perfect balance, you can fill the bottle until it’s about 3 quarters of the way up. 

Once you finished adding water, close your spray bottle with the lid tightly, and shake it until the baking soda is completely mixed with water.

Step number 3: 

Now just open your spray bottle and then add 15/20 drops of essential oil into the bottle.

This is another great recipe and a great way to make fabric freshener at home. It will be chemicals free freshener and easy to make.

Things Needed:

When you want to make a freshener for fabric with vinegar, You have to prepare some stuff to start on.

  • 1/2 cups of White Vinegar
  • 3/4 cups of distilled water
  • Bowl
  • Spray bottle
  • 20/25 drops of Essential oil

Step Number One:

At first, put 3/4 cups of distilled water into a bowl to start making freshener. If you want to make more freshener, you can add more distilled water to your bowl.

Step number two:

Add 1/2 cup of white vinegar into the bowl, and mix it with water. Don’t be hurry, do it gently.

Step number three:

Put 20/25 drops of essential oil into the bowl and mix up again. 

You can use Lemon, orange, or lavender essential oil, or if you want you can put 5 drops lemon, 5 drops tea tree oil, and 10/15 drops of lavender essential oil.

Step number four:

Now store in a spray bottle, and shake it well to make it ready for use. Before each use, make sure to shake the spray bottle.
